In this section, you’ll learn how to make the famous “Devil’s Food Cake”. This recipe is very special to me because a friend taught me how to make it back in 2020.
CAKE INGREDIENTS:
• 240 ml of hot water
• 65 grams of cocoa powder
• 230 grams of all-purpose flour
• 1 pinch of salt
• 1 tablespoon of baking soda
• 1 tablespoon of baking powder
• 350 grams of sugar
• 150 grams of unsalted butter
• 3 eggs at room temperature
• 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
• 290 ml of milk
CAKE INSTRUCTIONS:
• Dissolve the cocoa powder in the hot water and let it cool.
• Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
• Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a bowl.
• Cream the sugar and butter together until well combined.
• Add the eggs, one at a time, to the butter and sugar mixture. Do not add the next egg until the previous one is fully incorporated.
• Mix in the vanilla extract, the cooled cocoa mixture, and the milk. Keep beating until smooth.
• Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
• Pour the batter into a buttered cake pan.
• Bake for 35 to 45 minutes at 180 °C (350 °F). Keep an eye on it and check regularly!
FROSTING INGREDIENTS & INSTRUCTIONS:
• Mix powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and melted butter. Beat until you achieve a paste-like consistency.
• Once the mixture has cooled, add cold heavy cream and mix until you get the desired texture for spreading.
• Spread the frosting evenly over the cake using a spatula or knife for a smooth finish.
