Black ppl have an aversion to being perceived as ghetto. Because ghetto means poor, uncivilized and like indaba( ppl that are unfamiliar or not to used to nice things). What is so wrong with being ghetto. How did that become such an insult. Esp for black ppl? Why are we disgusted by ppl who dont have access ti stuff. Why is that a joke. Or do we view poor ppl as lazy? Why is being poor such an insult?

We as a culture have created this idea that internal peace is less important than external peace. Its more important to receive external validation than internal peace. Prioritizing your mental state is viewed as selfish. Esp when you're a black woman.

Black ppl and women view pain as something they get rewarded for. Something that leads to your growth or gets you to heaven. They try to rationalize all this pain that they hae gone through and continue to go through. They blame it on things like laziness or thats just how life is, to come to terms with it. Suffering or strife is seen as inevitable and necessary( and maybe it is) but not to this level. Black ppl and women are out through the worst then told that the reward is resilience. Like the "mbokodo" nonsense. Praising women for suffering like its some good thing.

In Hitlers time, "lazy/unproductive" ppl were persecuted. This shows how being tired or unproductive is viewed as a serious character flaw. A deficiency of sorts. In a culture that centers on work, lazy ppl are shamed and hated. Unproductiveness is hated. Normal feelings like being tired or being sick or depressed are shamed for it. Those are normal human feelings. Not to say that laziness is like amazing or anything but the way it is demonized is certainly interesting.

When you are black or poor, esp black and poor you cannot afford to be carefree as a child, lazy and reckless because for you, the consequences are deadly. For the white child, eso rich one, they make a mistake and daddy pays for it. They have the freedom to explore, make mistakes, chnage theur minds and be selfish. The poor/black child cannot do that. Especially the black child cause they are also "representing their whole race" much like queer kids are but not the point. Black and poor children don't have a childhood, and it's deeply unfortunate that most parents dont have the power or dont feel that they have the power to change the world but change tehur kid to prepare them for rhe world instead.
