The story follows Jude Duarte, a mortal girl who, along with her twin sister Taryn, is taken to live in the realm of Elfhame after their parents are murdered. In Elfhame, a land of political intrigue and betrayal, Jude faces hostility from the faeries, particularly Prince Cardan and his court. Determined to prove herself in this treacherous world, Jude becomes entangled in a complex web of faerie politics and discovers her own capacity for cunning and power.
