characters i relate to a little too much.
⭑.ᐟ jo march (little women)
oh, jo march. i don’t think i’ll ever find a book/movie character that i can relate to more. her love and protection over her writing and not being able to take criticism on it. her and laurie’s friendship. then her eventual loneliness that manifested into missing that dynamic. also her relationship with her siblings and her love for them. she’s aroace, an older sister, and a writer. me.
⭑.ᐟ diane nguyen (bojack horseman)
“because if i don''t, that means that all the damage i got isn''t good damage, it''s just damage. i have gotten nothing out of it, and all those years i was miserable was for nothing.” feminist writer girl who seems well-put together to everyone else but is really trying to figure out her life. i had a bojack once. i don’t recommend.
⭑.ᐟ christine ‘lady bird’ mcpherson (lady bird)
if there was ever a film to capture how it feels to be a alive and in senior year. lady bird’s relationship with her family, best friend, new ‘friends’, and boys is something i know all too well. her motivations and struggles are also my own unfortunately. i too want to live through something. and i too would throw myself out of a moving car after saying that because my mother disagreed.
⭑.ᐟ lindsay weir (freaks and geeks)
to be a girl feeling way too much in highschool with an unhinged little brother. she is the perfect encapsulation of how i feel to be a teenage girl growing up.
⭑.ᐟ lexi howard (euphoria)
the effects of being an observer and an artist in a world full of confusing friendships and emotional strain. i had a cassie and i too would make a play out of everyone’s life to showcase how i really felt.
⭑.ᐟ joy wang / jobu tupaki (everything everywhere all at once)
i would also destroy the whole multiverse to find someone who could actually understand me. whoops.
⭑.ᐟ frances halliday (frances ha)
i also love my best friend more than anything in the world, fuck if i know who i am.
⭑.ᐟ coraline jones (coraline)
i was more coraline in my late elementary to early middle school days (down to the dyed blue hair and an impatient attitude). but i still understand her even now. her passiveness, her boredom, her loneliness, her fears. the way she is too curious for her own good. curiosity literally almost killed the cat in this one.
⭑.ᐟ bill denbrough (it)
the oldest sibling guilt is strong in this one. bill denbrough, if something happened to my brother, i too would spend my whole summer dragging my friends through shitty water to look for him. i also have bad speech patterns but yk.
⭑.ᐟ sofya ‘sonya’ alexandrovna (war and peace)
her self-sacrifice literally kills me. “but i will stand in the dark for you // i will hold you back by force // i will stand here right outside your door // i won't see you disgraced // i will protect your name and your heart // because i miss my friend”.
