unfortunately a rare occurrence in media, but something that all authors should look towards. there is beauty in gentle masculinity and the care that comes with letting a male character be soft.

animals flock to him, a young girl trusts him with her life. he has the willingness and calculated ability to want to keep people safe. held onto kee with all he had and made sure she stuck by him. he always had an arm around her. his motivation was to save who he could in a world long gone.
jay (okja)
a suit-wearing animal activist whose empathy is his greatest asset as a leader. basically adopted a 14 year-old after only meeting her for an hour because he simply wanted to help her. supported her and went out of his way to keep her safe. gentle when needed and an absolute force of nature otherwise.
jon snow (game of thrones)
good-hearted, incredibly loyal, willing to fight for what’s right, and defends who can’t fight without a second thought. has claim to a throne he does not want. in a medieval fantasy world full of terrifying and predatory men, he remains gentle and respectful.
ravi singh (a good girl’s guide to murder)
constantly supported pip, gave her the time of day, and made sure she felt safe with him. a good presence in a town that wrongly despised his family.
george (as above, so below)
followed the girl he loved into literal hell just because he cared about her. devotion at its core. he also constantly tried to make sure everyone else was alright and tried to keep calm for their sake.
