
Notes
Ingredients:
- 750g chicken breast cut into bite sized cubes
- 2tsp soy sauce
- 1tsp each (salt, white pepper & MSG)
- 1/2tsp garlic and onion powder
- 1/4tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 cup cornstarch/cornflour
- Oil for frying
- Sesame seeds & spring onions for garnish
Honey butter sauce:
- 4-5 cloves garlic chopped
- 2 tbsp butter for sauteing garlic
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp chilli flakes
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 4-5 tbsp more butter
- 2 tosp honey
- 2 tbsp cornstarch slurry (mix in 1/2 cup water)
Instructions:
In a bowl add the cubed chicken, soy sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, egg and mix well. Add the cornstarch plus baking powder and coat the chicken pieces well. Fry the chicken in hot oil in batches for 3-4 minutes. Remove, set it aside for 1-2 minutes and double fry it again for 2-3 minutes until golden brown crispy.
In a deep pan heat butter and saute garlic until fragrant. Then add the soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, chilli flakes, garlic powder, more butter, honey, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes on low heat. Next add in the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce is thick and glossy. Toss in the fried chicken, mix everything until evenly coated, garnish with sesame seeds, spring onions and serve as is or with rice.
